Title: Displacement Year: 2007 Location: Radom Sculpture Park, Poland “Displacement” was created during a week long symposium at the Radom Sculpture Park in Poland, while I was attending the Academy of Fine Arts Warsaw on a Fulbright Fellowship in Spring 2007. The coffin like nature of the piece above – solid soil apparently devoid of life — is in direct juxtaposition to the cavity below as it is filled with water (due to high water table; there is a pond nearby), and hence, life bearing organisms. So when the soil and grass “tomb” is removed in its entirety, it is only then that we can discover how full of life the world beneath us really is…
